A diverse global team. One approach.

  • We see racial equity as a central lens for solving all persistent social challenges.

  • We deploy systems thinking and adaptive leadership to unlock change, where past tactics have failed.

  • We disrupt ‘business as usual’ by integrating change efforts into everyday processes, policies, and practices, and planning for predictable resistance to change.

  • We rely on results-based design and evaluation to continuously increase the potency of change efforts.

  • We believe building greater racial consciousness—seeing what role race is playing in problems where outcomes are predictable by race—is a required element of organizational change, and that personal change and organizational change go hand in hand.

  • By working together, we ensure you have access to an interracial team that specializes in the types of change work your project demands.

Identify

We start with the rigorous Racial Equity Capacity In Practice Assessment, in which:

  • Members and benefactors of the organization participate in collecting and making meaning of relevant data, artifacts, and stories

  • Values, assets, and needs are discovered

  • Participants identify shared goals, strengthening relationships along the way

  • The vision of an ideal future state is articulated

Develop

We build organizational muscle for change, including:

  • Critical analysis of conditions, context, and history

  • Systems analysis to uncover connections, root causes, and leverage points

  • Normalizing change conditions, predicting and mitigating resistance and risk

  • Interpersonal skills to work and co-lead effectively across lines of race/gender+, including through ideation, decision-making, conflict, ambiguity, loss, repair, and change

Transform

  • We apply proven practices to remedy any failures in policies, processes, or practices to produce the desired outcomes.

  • We ignite adaptive leadership within the organization to tackle problems that have never been solved before, through experimentation, evaluation, and iteration.

  • We support leaders in developing novel solutions to problems that have never been solved before, where there is no organization or society who have yet unlocked the answers.

Evaluate

We establish evaluation protocols to guide investment and iteration, in which:

  • The perspectives of those most impacted are centered.

  • Organizations answer: What did we do? How much? How well? And is anyone better off?

  • Interventions are evaluated for potency: What dosage and frequency are required to engender change?

  • Failures are expected sources of information about how the system works, and how to transform it.

  • Future resourcing needs and recommendations for iteration are declared.
